What information do I need to get a home insurance quote?
When you apply a home insurance quote, you will be asked a number of questions about the structure and contents of your home. To make sure the insurer has all of the information needed to provide you with a quote, make sure you have the following details to hand:
Details about the structure of your home:
- Your house number, postcode, property type (e.g. Flat, semi-detached house)
- Number of bedrooms
- What year your home was built
- Whether your roof is flat or pitched
- The number of people that live in your house
- Details about the security of your home
- What type of lock your home has
- Whether you have a security alarm
- Details about the rebuilding cost and value of contents of your home
- How much your house would cost to rebuild
- How much the contents of your home are worth
- Whether you have any specific contents you want additional cover or ‘cover outside of the home’ for (e.g. bicycles, mobile phones)
- Please be advised that you may be asked for additional information to that stated above, dependent upon the insurer’s requirements and question set.
