RAC provides Breakdown Assistance and is there to help with any mechanical or electrical breakdown faults on your van. RAC are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
In an ideal world you will not breakdown or need roadside recovery. However, if you do encounter a problem on the road and want peace of mind, that’s where RAC comes in!
What it covers
- Cover for any driver- Breakdown assistance covers anyone who is driving the van with the policy holder’s permission, the cover extends to a caravan or trailer up to 7.6m long that you may be towing at the time.
- UK assisted recovery- If your vehicle cannot be fixed at the roadside the RAC will take your van and up to 8 people to your destination, or back home.
- UK roadside repairs- Whenever possible, a mechanic will fix the fault or problem on the spot. There is no charge for labour, only parts used.
- 24/7 service- Friendly operators who are on standby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, alerting mobile units within minutes of your call.
You can upgrade your level of cover; the options available are listed below:
- Roadside, Recovery & At Home– This level of cover offers the same as the standard cover with the addition of the RAC providing assistance at your home address or within a ¼ mile of your home address.
- Roadside, Recovery, At Home & Onward Travel- If you purchase this level of cover you will be covered with all of the above. In addition you can get either replacement van hire for up to 24 hours; onward travel by another means, or overnight accommodation while your van is being repaired. This is limited up to £150 per person or £500 for your party whichever is more cost efficient.
- Roadside, Recovery, At Home, Onward Travel & EU- This enables you to be covered for assistance in 48 European countries. For a list of countries covered please refer to your policy document.
Things to think about
- Vans that have not been regularly serviced
- The costs of parts, fuel or other supplies are excluded
- Road traffic accidents or any other claim that is not a vehicle breakdown
- Any labour provided at the garage to which the vehicle was taken too
- Any motor caravan, or vehicle in excess of 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass, or longer than 5.5m (7.0m when towing a trailer or caravan)
